Training Course "Beyond Communication"

“Out beyond ideas of rightdoing and wrongdoing, there is a field. I will meet you there” (Rumi).
That's the motto of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), which sees the language not only as a neutral communication tool but also a very powerful instrument of recognition or oppression. It teaches to bring communication, through emotions and empathy on the level of human needs, which are universal for all of us, regardless the origin, culture, age and gender.
In our TC we explored this approach and learnt how we can apply its principles into the European youth work, especially if it comes to self development and learning auto-reflection competences of people who are working as youth workers or youth trainers.

The project contained of three levels – at first participants of the TC obtained new knowledge, skills and attitudes about NVC. On the second level they focused on the Key Competences and see how NVC can support their development. NVC gives the best tools to enable peaceful handling of cultural differences, helps individuals to find their place in any society and enables peace in any cooperation and any kind of projects. We worked to strengthen this approach in the YiA Programme. Therefore the third level aimed at working on transfer NVC into the YiA Programme.
The working methods were mainly based of principles of non formal education and consisted of theoretical inputs, group and individual exercises, simulations, group and plenary discussions, individual and group reflection, etc.
The project was created in a partnership of 4 countries: Poland, Germany, Spain and Italy. 21 youth workers, youth leaders and youth trainers from these countries took part in it.
